MEPIS was commissioned by Urban Works to provide engineering services for the renovation of two existing laboratory rooms which included up­grades of ventilation, laboratory gas, plumbing, and electrical systems. Me­chanical scope included investigation of the existing conditions, verification of functionality of the existing dual-duct system and laboratory hood control sequences, and the design of the ventilation system upgrades, which includ­ed replacement of supply diffusers and exhaust grilles and system balancing, and laboratory gas system renovation. Electrical scope consisted of surveying and documenting existing normal and EM Power systems, design mod­ifications of existing electrical power distribution system, modifications of lighting, and evaluation of fire alarm system. Plumbing scope included survey and document the existing conditions and extent of demolition work within the project area, modification of existing domestic water system, deionized water system, and acid waste and vent systems serving island lab sinks and faucets as well as providing new emergency showers.
