MEPIS was commissioned by Tartan Associates, Ltd. to provide MEP/FP engineering for the renovation/conversion of an existing 40,000 square foot building in the South Side of Chicago into a 3-story day-care center. The existing systems were removed, the project assuming no existing infrastructure for reuse. Mechanical Design required the addition of 15 rooftop units to supply HVAC to the building and coordination with electrical for a new 130kW generator. Electrical scope included a new 750kVA service and power distribution system, new lighting and receptacle layouts, fire alarm, and IT and security. Plumbing and fire protection included new plumbing services to serve the building (hot and cold water, waste and vent piping) as well as a new 50HP fire pump.
