MEPIS was commissioned by Northwestern University to design a robust and reliable sprinkler system to protect sensitive campus areas where the accidental discharge of water is especially undesirable due to the presence of sensitive, rare, or costly equipment/materials. MEPIS provided the design for a pre-action double interlock Fire Protection System utilizing nitrogen. The Fire Protection scope included the design of an automatic fire sprinkler system based on a fully sprinkled building, determining Fire Department connection locations per local fire department requirements, provided documents indicating sprinkler zone designations (zone numbering, zone occupancy classifications, and sprinkler types to be installed), designed standpipe and riser locations, provided a model specification of the components in the system, and specify interface with fire alarm system.
