University of Chicago Medicine - Stem Cell Renovation

MEPIS was commissioned by the University of Chicago Medicine alongside Bancroft for the relocation of equipment used for stem cell research as well as the renovation of the two rooms involved. The project included demolition of walls and existing ceiling plans for the installation of the new equipment and extension of two rooms, as well as the new design work to accommodate the altered rooms. The mechanical work included relocating and re-balancing HVAC as well as the provision of new thermostat controls. The Electrical work included relamping of lighting fixtures and new wiring raceways and power layouts for the renovated rooms.  Due to the nature of the cryogenic equipment, provisions were made for new electrical distribution equipment on the critical load service for the relocated critical loads in the stem cell lab, including a new transformer and new panel-board. Plumbing work included providing new piping and equipment for one new sink and two retrofitted sinks, as well as piping for a relocated fume hood.
