University of Illinois at Chicago - Eye & Ear Infirmary Surgical Center

The new Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery Center will be constructed across the street from the existing University of Illinois Hospital. The facility will be a 5-story structure with a 20,000 SF footprint consisting of an imaging department on the 1st floor and Ambulatory Surgery Center on the 3rd floor. The remaining floors shall be shell and core for future build-out. The building will also have a 2-Story bridge structure connecting it with the existing UIC Hospital.

MEPIS was commissioned to provide Schematic Designs for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) Systems. The schematic design package includes the complete buildout of the first and third floors. All other floors will be designed as shell space. First floor spaces include Lobby, Imaging, and equipment storage rooms. Third floor spaces include procedure rooms, operating rooms and support area. All central equipment, including air handling units, heating plant, cooling plant, medical gases, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire alarm system, information technology, plumbing booster pump, domestic water heater, fire protection pump, fire protection risers will be sized for the entire facility. Tie-ins to the central systems will be terminated in shell spaces for future connections
