BIM Technician - Coordinator

MEPIS is seeking experienced professionals to work in our MEP Department. This position will perform work predominantly in Healthcare and Higher Education. Other markets such as Institutional, Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Government, Hospitality and K-12 facilities will be expected to work on as well and will require the initiative to take the actions needed with minimal supervision. As MEPIS candidate, responsibilities will be broader than in most similar positions, so an ideal applicant will be able to handle a variety of tasks without being pigeonholed into one small segment of the field.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares architectural/engineering drawings of plans, elevations, cross sections and details of building structures from rough sketches and/or from general engineering design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Performs design/drafting assignments, requiring working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices and techniques.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with other Revit/CAD Technicians and Engineers with minimal supervision.
  • Actively promotes and contributes to the successful completion of projects from initial concept, through the planning process to implementation.
  • Assumes responsibility and meets or exceeds deliverable deadlines for own portion of the project scope, schedule and budget.
  • Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Transfer redlines from paper into the Revit project environment at the direction of senior designers.
  • Assist Senior Designers in producing Technology construction drawings. Activities would include but not be limited to: – Assist in template and standard development – Review and understand project requirements with senior design staff – Maintain directory structures and assist consultants and designers with project documents organization – Assist Senior staff with construction document development – Complex Family completion & Project setup – Keeping our network drawing sets accurate, and up to date
  • Proficiency in Revit®
  • At the very least the candidate will have taken an Intro to Revit class, or have 1 year experience working with Revit in a professional environment. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus, but this is primarily a Revit position. If you have zero experience with Revit, please do not apply. We can mold someone who has a basic understanding of Revit into the designer we want, but we do not have the time to completely train a new hire on the basics of Revit.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with building construction and experience in general construction, and having the ability to read and understand construction documents.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Display proficiency with PC office tools, such as: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Able to read and interpret historic building drawings.
PREFERENCES:
  • An Associate degree in Design or Drafting is preferred
  • Multilingual
Experience: Minimum 1-3 years in architecture and/or product design. Comfortable in high tolerance CAD/CAM production, as well as the production of shop drawings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure on multiple project deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to see a project through to completion
  • Excellent attention to detailing of complex building components
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least five years of experience working in an architectural firm, working in Revit, creating renderings, and working on various elements of design
  • Technical Skills must include proficiency in Revit, Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design), various 3D modelling software programs, MS Office, and Newforma
  • Working knowledge of Standards in Revit (test will be given)
  • Prior working knowledge of Illinois building codes is a plus
  • Good design sensibility and a strong portfolio
  • Must be energetic, team-oriented, and personable
