Mechanical Design Engineer I
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Work closely with our Senior Mechanical Plumbing/Fire Protection engineers to help in these disciplines at all levels. Design, drawing production, specification writing, coordination between the various disciplines, shop drawing and submittal reviews, RFI’s, construction site reviews, and code reviews.  Works closely with our Electrical, Plumbing/Fire Protection and Leadership teams. Works closely with all MEPIS clients on a variety of projects, both small and large. Ensure the highest level of client satisfaction, so delivering top quality work on all projects. Fully participate in the full project cycle, starting with the pre-programming phase, throughout the construction, and participate in the close-out. Perform work predominantly in higher education, healthcare, K-12, Residential and industrial facilities.   DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
  • Acquire and retain knowledge of higher education, medical facilities, or other complex facilities
  • Utilize Revit and AutoCAD MEP to produce drawings and models for various projects
  • Design of mechanical systems
  • Development of initial mechanical system concepts
  • Modeling & Analysis of all aspects of mechanical systems
  • Survey and evaluation of existing building and site conditions
  • Coordination and Collaboration between MEPIS’ team
  • Review of mechanical systems designed by others, interface with code officials and contractors, working with architects and clients
  • Calculations of preliminary HVAC systems
  • Develop project specifications
  • Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and other clients
  • Participate in Shop Drawing as part of the submittal and review process
  • Respond to project RFI’s accurately and in a timely manner
  • Construction site visits and reviews to confirm process is in alignment with drawings provided
  • Ability to handle small-to-medium sized design projects with analytical skills while showcasing talent with minimal oversight by senior engineers
  • Code Reviews to verify project compliance
  • Interface with code officials and contractors, and working with architects and clients
  • Construction Administration
  • All deliverables including reports
  • Draft Reports
  • Completing additional duties as assigned
  • Software proficiencies
    • Recent AutoCAD (2010 and beyond) required
    • Microsoft Office Suite Programs required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Revit experience
    • Knowledge of additional industry software proficiencies where relevant
