Fire Suppression Improvements and Repairs

MEPIS was commissioned by Tyson Foods for the repairs and improvements of the fire suppression system in their Chicago Hospitality Plant facility. The dry pipe sprinkler system near the plant’s freezers had two systems that formed our scope of work. System 1 required an air pressure test to determine its condition. This evaluation included approximately 50 grooved couplings and the pre-action valve clapper. System 2 consisted of a double interlock pre-action valve that had been out of service due to water freezing within the piping.  Replacement of approximately 1400 feet of piping and 160 sprinkler heads was required due to this freezing.

MEPIS surveyed the area to ascertain that original design drawings were still accurate to what was installed. MEPIS then oversaw the construction services to make the necessary repairs and testing of the two standpipe systems. Field reports, testing checklists, and closeout documents were generated and turned over to Tyson.
